Pemberton Pool: A Heritage Gem Flowing Into a New Era

Tucked beneath towering karri trees and fed by the pure waters of the Lefroy Brook, the Pemberton Pool remains one of the town’s most treasured historic landmarks — a place where generations have learned to swim, picnicked with family, and cooled off on warm summer days. Originally built in the 1920s for local timber workers and their families, the pool still carries that unmistakable sense of community, history, and natural beauty. Today, it’s evolving once again, with thoughtful upgrades designed to honour its past while creating a welcoming, modern space for locals and visitors alike.

What You’ll Find at the Pool

The Pemberton Pool offers a simple, relaxed outdoor experience — perfect for families, swimmers, and anyone wanting to unwind beside the water.

  • Clean toilets and outdoor showers for easy post‑swim comfort
  • BBQs and picnic tables nestled under the trees
  • A spacious grassed area ideal for long, lazy afternoons
  • Direct access to the Lefroy Brook walk trails and surrounding forest

These facilities are currently undergoing staged improvements as part of a broader revitalisation project, ensuring the pool remains safe, accessible, and enjoyable for years to come.

Recent Upgrades

The area has already seen exciting progress, including:

  • A new bitumen car park, making access smoother and safer
  • Fresh landscaping and ongoing maintenance
  • Improved pathways and seating areas

And the biggest new addition — one that’s already drawing attention across the region — is the floating sauna, a unique wellness experience set right on the water. It’s the perfect blend of relaxation and nature immersion, offering visitors a chance to unwind in a truly Pemberton way.

Revitalising a Community Icon

The Pemberton Pool is more than a swimming spot — it’s a living piece of local history. With upgrades underway and new attractions emerging, the area is entering an exciting new chapter. The goal is simple: to preserve the charm and heritage of the pool while creating a vibrant, welcoming space for everyone. Whether you’re stopping by for a swim, a picnic, a sauna session, or simply to enjoy the tranquillity of the forest, the Pemberton Pool continues to be one of the town’s most beloved places.
