Australia Day in Pemberton is more than a date on the calendar — it’s a chance for locals and visitors alike to come together in the spirit of community, friendship and shared purpose. It’s a day to celebrate what makes our town special, enjoy good company in an incredible natural setting, and support a cause that benefits us all.

A Day of Togetherness and Celebration

This year’s Australia Day festivities kick off with a free community breakfast from 7–10 am at the Pemberton Pool — a welcoming way to start the day, meet neighbours and make new friends before the fun really begins.

Come midday (12 pm–3 pm), the iconic Pemberton Pool will host a sausage sizzle fundraiser paired with live music. Whether you’re a local or passing through, we’d love to share this warm, inclusive celebration with you — bring your family, your friends, and your good spirits.

Honouring a Special Community Asset

The Pemberton Pool holds nearly a century of history and heart. From its beginnings as a community-built swimming spot in the late 1920s to the place it is today, this gorgeous freshwater pool set amongst towering karri forest has been a meeting place, a splash of summer joy and a gathering point for countless memories.

Over the decades, locals have pitched in to maintain and care for this cherished space — and now, we’re doing it again. Our current GoFundMe campaign is raising funds to help repair the pool’s aging concrete wall, address leaks, and upgrade the bathrooms and change rooms, ensuring the pool remains safe, accessible and enjoyable for generations to come.

Thanks to generous contributions so far (including an early $10,000 donation from the Pemberton Caravan Park to kick things off), we’re already making progress — but there’s more to do. Every dollar raised helps bring these improvements closer to reality.

We recognise that Australia Day can be a sensitive time for many people — and we honour that. Our focus for this event is on community, inclusion and positive action. Pemberton’s Australia Day celebration is about coming together respectfully, sharing good food and music, and uplifting a cause that benefits our whole community and the many visitors who love this special corner of WA.
